the MISSION of NHU

The Mission of New Hope United flows from our understanding of why the Church exists.  Jesus Christ formed the Church to be His ambassadors of good news in the world! God is on a mission to redeem all of creation from the terrible effects of sin and death and as followers of Jesus we get to join that mission!

This means sharing with others about what God has done in Jesus Christ and being living examples of God’s love and power to those around us. God has forgiven our sins and given us the free gift of new, abundant, and eternal life as we live into the reality of His rule and reign in our lives! We are ordinary people pursuing extraordinary life change in Jesus!

We pursue this new reality in four major ways:

PURSUING GOD IN WORSHIP

God is the one who created and redeemed us.  He is the only one worthy of our praise, adoration, glory and honor. We seek to worship God with every aspect of our lives, including the way we relate to God and others in our homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and communities. We gather together every week to worship God through music and other art forms. We believe that as we pursue God in worship He transforms us to be more like Him!

SHARING LIFE IN FELLOWSHIP

The abundant life we’ve been given is a shared way of life with others who have found new life in Jesus. We eat meals together, practice hospitality, and share everyday life in a variety of ways. We also make time to meet together in small groups during the week to go deeper in our relationships with God and each other through intentional spiritual conversations and prayer.

GROWING TOGETHER IN SERVICE

Following Jesus means embracing a life of service and sacrifice for others. We grow as we lovingly serve others both inside and outside of the Church. Each of us has unique gifts to serve God and one another. We have a variety of ministry teams and opportunities for each person to be involved and actively serving.  Everyone is encouraged to join a ministry team.

CONNECTING LIVES IN OUR COMMUNITY

As ambassadors for Christ we are committed to sharing the new life we’ve found in Jesus with those who do not yet know Him. We do this by connecting lives in our community on an individual and organizational level. This takes many forms, including: opening our homes to friends and neighbors, sharing our facilities and resources with our community, hosting neighborhood parties on our campus, and partnering with local schools, businesses, and non-profits. Basically, it means being good neighbors to bring extraordinary life change to the Northern Hills community and beyond.
