Growing together in service
Jesus came to serve and sacrifice for the whole world. We experience extraordinary life change in Jesus as we embrace the role of sacrificial servant in every day interaction with our family, fellow students, co-workers, neighbors, strangers, and even our enemies. We believe that God has given every follower of Jesus a special calling and gifts for the purpose of serving others in love. As we serve, we become more like Jesus; we grow up!
Service opportunities are abundant at New Hope United where every person who attends is encouraged to find their place on a ministry team or propose new ideas for ways that we can pursue our mission together. Opportunities range from being a webmaster or sound tech to being a children’s teacher or event coordinator; being a musician or singer to being a janitor or handyman; being a small group leader or youth worker to being a neighborhood liaison or greeter. The list goes on…
Being the Church takes a lot of hard work. So, in addition to the ministries that help us Pursue God in Worship, Share Life in Fellowship, and Connect Lives in our Community, we also have three ministry areas that serve and support all of our other ministry areas.
ADMINISTRATION
A strong administrative team is needed to coordinate the work of our various ministries, particularly when it comes to shared finances and shared work.
SHARED FINANCES: One of the ways we Share Life Together in Fellowship is by giving freely and generously to support our church’s mission. Our work is only possible because of those who faithfully give. One of our service teams is responsible for collecting, counting, recording, and depositing all money that is given to New Hope United. They are also responsible for overseeing purchasing, bill payment, and generating financial reports. As a 501(C)3 Not-for-Profit organization, responsible administration is vital to our work.
SHARED WORK: Most of the time when we serve we are doing work that few people notice when it is done well and everyone notices when it is done poorly! One of our service teams is committed to that kind of background and logistical support work. They serve all of the other ministry areas through set-up/tear-down, cleaning, and various other behind-the-scenes labor. No Church can thrive without hard-working people committed to serving.
FACILITY MAINTENANCE
The building is not the Church, but the Church needs a building. Having property and facilities allows us to do together what none of us could do separately, or even in smaller groups. A Facility Maintenance Ministry allows our other ministry areas to thrive as they make use of the resources God has given us.
